This type of chiller provides a very large amount of chilled water for air conditioning purposes (office buildings, hotels, etc.) at the lowest operating cost compared to any other type of air conditioning system. R-11 production was phased out in 1995 but reclaimed R-11 is still available. Older R-11 chillers can continue to be serviced with available R-11 or be retrofitted to R-123 with engineering support from the equipment manufacturer.
